A Legacy of Faith, Family, and Craftsmanship
Crafting meaningful monuments with faith and dedication since 1968
Our story is one of faith, family, and God’s guiding hand. It began in 1968 when our founder, John Johns Sr., started working in the monument business at just 9 years old. Under the mentorship of his father, Clayton Johns, founder of C&J Lettering, John learned not only the skills of the trade but also the importance of serving others with integrity and care.
After gaining experience with Phillips Display Company in Ottawa, John stepped away from the lettering business for a time. However, when his father passed away in 1990, John returned to the craft he had grown up with, balancing his work at a factory with the demands of rebuilding the family business. His sons, John Johns II and Steve Johns, joined the team in 1995 and 2002, carrying the legacy forward with skill and dedication.
From Faith to Findlay: Building Lasting Legacies
In 2002, we transitioned to Trinity Lettering Company, a name reflecting the faith that has always been central to our family. Then, in 2006, we expanded further by opening Findlay Monument Co., the first and only full-service monument dealer in Findlay, Ohio. By handling every step of the process—from design to setting—we’ve been able to provide families with beautiful, lasting tributes that are personal and affordable.
Four Generations of Crafting Memories
Our family’s journey continued into the fourth generation in 2024, when Isaiah Johns, son of Steve Johns, became our primary on-site engraver. Through Trinity Lettering, Isaiah now serves over 60 monument dealers and funeral homes across Ohio, continuing our tradition of craftsmanship and care.
At Findlay Monument Co., we believe that God has worked through every step of our history, shaping our path and blessing us with the ability to serve others in their time of need. We look forward to meeting you, sharing our faith, and helping you honor your loved ones with memorials that stand as timeless testaments to love, legacy, and God’s grace.
