A Legacy of Faith, Family, and Craftsmanship

Crafting meaningful monuments with faith and dedication since 1968

Our story is one of faith, family, and God’s guiding hand. It began in 1968 when our founder, John Johns Sr., started working in the monument business at just 9 years old. Under the mentorship of his father, Clayton Johns, founder of C&J Lettering, John learned not only the skills of the trade but also the importance of serving others with integrity and care.

After gaining experience with Phillips Display Company in Ottawa, John stepped away from the lettering business for a time. However, when his father passed away in 1990, John returned to the craft he had grown up with, balancing his work at a factory with the demands of rebuilding the family business. His sons, John Johns II and Steve Johns, joined the team in 1995 and 2002, carrying the legacy forward with skill and dedication.

Darrell Heintz

From Math and Farming to Memorials and Memories

After retiring from a fulfilling career as a math teacher and a lifetime on the farm, Darrel discovered a new calling in the showroom of Findlay Monuments. For the past nine years, he has found immense joy in helping families design the perfect monuments to honor their loved ones. His caring nature, compassionate listening, and thoughtful guidance make him a trusted ally during a delicate time.

Darrel’s creativity truly shines in crafting custom saddle and vase arrangements for cemeteries and headstones. No matter the task, Darrel goes above and beyond to ensure families feel supported and cared for.

Outside of work, Darrel treasures time spent with his family, attending concerts of all kinds, and enthusiastically supporting local sports teams. His dedication to both his craft and his community is a testament to his generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.
